chewing
Sometimes the way people chew makes me twitch. Apples and Cheetos are two of the most common offenders. If I ever go on a killing spree, you’ll probably find that someone was chewing ice next to me at the moment I snapped.

I cannot stand the sound of people chewing, slurping, nose breathing, etc. There are co-workers that I will avoid being in the lounge with because the sound of them eating gives me chills or goosebumps. I won’t even let my children have “loud” foods (gum, suckers, etc.) The rule is- if I hear you eating, the candy gets thrown away. What’s worse, I think I have super human hearing because the same noises don’t seem to bother those around me.
same here! it makes me cringe no end. and what about people who’s jaws click?
Exactly!

I have a serious problem with mouth noises of all kinds. I cannot stand to hear people chew. My brother in law has a hollow head – I hear every crunch, squish and squeak even though he has his mouth closed and is way across the room. God forbid that person that sits behind me in the movies theater with the extra large tub of popcorn that sounds like they have no lips when they chew. I can’t STAND it!
Woah, I thought this was a unique thing… My issue with eating-sounds comes from my father, he ate/eats /so/ loudly. I’m a little better then I used to be, but now after years of forcing/asking my best friend to eat silently (like I do), she’s ultra-sensitive to mouth-noise too. It’s contagious.
I chased my sister in our haouse several times after she ate tomatoes- like she is eating apples, she has to suck all the tomato juice while she is biting into it and I just go crazy! I hate all the sounds associated with eating, drinking, kissing. why all the kissing scenes in the movies have some much slurping sound ?
however after living with 3 chinese and one japanese i learned to curb my impulses about hitting, or yelling at people when they slurp. they were all very nice people , just their culture teaches them to slurp while eating.
My boyfriend’s like that. Luckily I’ve always been a quiet eater – still, I now have to avoid extra-crunchy things around him, unless he’s eating them too. Also, he hates hearing people speak after eating chocolate.
*sigh*
I am like this too, i can’t stand the sound of mastication. Heed this warning fellow antimasticites. DO NOT VISIT ASIA. They all eat with their mouths open, slurp soups, oh god it’s horrible.
i get my hatred for chewing sounds from my dad too, except it’s a handed-down neurosis. he hated it so much he kept chips next to him in the car on road trips and would eat them whenever my sister and i were eating. with the window down, even in winter.
don’t even get me started on gum or kisses on television.
This defines my life!
