praying in vain?
i always make the sign of the cross whenever i drive past a car accident. i’m not particularly religious, but it’s definitely more than just a reflex- trying to give what little help i can to the person involved i guess. just in case it ends up mattering.

I’m a Jewish atheist and I do this for some reason. And I say, “A prayer for the living and a prayer for the dead,” as I do it.
I’m Catholic and I’d say go for it – yes, prayers do help. and if you don’t believe that, there’s still nothing wrong with caring about people.
