time = lines
When I look at digital clocks, I have to add up the numbers of the time (9:58=21) and see if this corresponds to the number of lines that make up the numbers.

9+5+8 = 22
what does this part mean: “The number of lines that make up the numbers”? I don’t get it… Can u explain? Thanks!
Yeah, that one equals 22.
What he means is since digital clocks use anywhere between 2 and 7 lines to form the numbers that you know and love, he adds up the digits and can only hope that the sum is the same as the number of lines used to form the number.
it equals 22 btw. nice example
I do the same thing only I have to add up all of the numbers until I get a single digit…so 9+5+8= 22; 2+2= 4…or even with any sequence of numbers( dates of birth, the current date) but most likely it’s the time I do this with the most…
yea one of my best friends add up the numbers just like that. but i dont know about that corresponding to lines
I do exactly the same thing. I got so bad that I couldn’t have a digital clock beside my bed, because I would stay up all night counting.
actually 9:58=22.
sorry, i’m a math geek.
Very nice, you only missed one: 9:42
Didn’t take me hours to calculate them, but it did take about 30 minutes to get a shell script worked out to test all combinations. Of course, if I want to consider the possibility of the clock being set to military time, I need to tweak the script and there will be many more hits.
I totally do this (even adding up to make a single digit, like Randhi above). I thought I was the only one!
I rearange all of the lines to form all 8′s.
10:08 is the best time since its the only one I found that makes 3 8s
All of the numbers are:
1:27, 1:39, 1:48, 1:58
2:17, 2:49, 2:59
3:19, 3:37
4:18, 4:29, 4:44, 4:45, 4:46, 4:54, 4:55, 4:56
5:18, 5:29, 5:44, 5:45, 5:46, 5:54, 5:55, 5:56
6:18, 6:29, 6:44, 6:45, 6:46, 6:54, 6:55, 6:56
7:12, 7:21, 7:33
8:14, 8:15, 8:16, 8:38, 8:41, 8:51
9:09, 9:13, 9:24, 9:25, 9:26, 9:31, 9:52
11:19, 11:37
12:47, 12:57
This took many hours to calculate. You’re welcome.
