you’ll never lose each other…ever
I safety-pin my socks together after I wash them and before I put them away in my drawer. I’m afraid one might get lost or separated from its pair and get lonely. I do however refuse to wear a a pair of socks if their safety pin wounds me in any way before putting them on.

I don’t pin them together but I fold the top of one over the other so that they stay together as a pair – still end up with lots of single unpaired socks though. I’m sure I have a sock gremlin who consumes them between the washing line and the ready to be put away pile.
that’s fantastic!
Ha. I love this one, I might adopt it.
Oh my god my friend Jay does this…
I safety-pin my socks together before I put them in the wash, that way they don’t even get separated in the washing machine. This helps to finding a pair of socks in the drawer where one is brand-new-black and the other is worn-out, faded grey.
Yay! Me too. I thought I was being all innovative until everyone just stared blankly when I tried to explain it.
As far as I know, most people put their socks together in the drawer, by folding the top of one over the other… not wanting to have to search through a haphazard pile in your sock drawer is hardly a neurosis.
Whoever first posted this, I would very much like to meet you.
I think I love you. I am exactly the same way. I hate it when my socks get lonely. I keep all the extras in a basket together so they don’t feel so alone and I wear mismatched ones when I sleep so I don’t hurt their feelings.
Have you guys seens this thing called Little Mismatched socks? It was on QVC this weekend and it is an assortment of 12 socks and NONE match. They’re supposed to be cute and make you feel funky that you’re wearing mismatched socks but all I could think was that people would think I’m crazy or stupid and didn’t know my socks were different. I think I’d end up explaining all day long that they’re not meant to match and it would be too much trouble. Some were cute but I’d have to buy 2 packages and then have 12 pair of socks.
That’s awesome. I totally get that.
OMG! I totally love this! I hate it when some socks get more worn/faded than others, and they end up getting paired with other socks that are not as worn/faded. It drives me nuts to put on one sock that is softer, darker, cushier than the other. I feel like they just don’t match. I might have to adopt your neurosis.
you should try this with a .45
I am going to have to start doing this. I have too many lonely socks, they’re starting to get downright snarky and bitter.
I never match my patterned or colored socks. I make a point to have them mis-matched. However, I simply CANNOT handle it if my plain white socks don’t match PERFECTLY. To the point that if one is slightly dirtier than the other, I have to change one of them…
