i need the attention of the words and pictures of my cup
If there is writing or a picture on my cup, I have to have it centered facing me or I can’t drink out of it. Also, if the cup has a lid on it, the writing has to be turned so it can be centered on the cup.

I never even noticed I did this until I read this…greeeat, another neurosis to add to my list haha.
umm i do this as well – and the seems in the cups are also involved in the placement of where my straw is and how i hold my beverage….
ohhh the stress
i do this exact same thing! i thought i was the only one! When i get my coffee in the morning, the picture, the picture on the cup protector and the hole in the lid all have to be lined up!
yup, i’m a symmetry-centered obsessed sort of person and while i’m ok with there being just one handle on most cups, i do have to have lids, coffee sleeves, etc facing me and 90 degrees away (clockwise) from the handle (since i’m right handed). i don’t buy coffee cups with off-centered or wrap-around logos for this very reason =)
I’ve become convinced that anyone in line behind me at a Starbucks hates me because I take the time at the counter to do this. For some reason, it’s only Starbucks. Anywhere else I go, I don’t pay attention to it.
I do this too, but I also can’t drink out of a handled cup unless the handle is in my right hand, so if the handle is on the left when the picture is facing me, I can’t use it.
I have to do the exact opposite of this… I can’t stand everything on my cups to be aligned. I make sure images, lids, sleeves, etc are all in different directions. That way I feel like I look like I’m not neurotic… even though I know better. =P
I don’t do this, but whenever I get a to-go cup from anywhere (you know, the kind with the seam where the paper begins to overlap), I have to make sure that the seam is in the back. Also, the drinkin’ hole on the lid must be on the opposite side of that seam.
I notice myself doing that all the time at bars if their glasses have logos on them. I also have to make sure that the glass is centered on the coaster (depending on what is printed on the coaster).
oh my geeeeeeez, i actually didn’t realise but i do this. most of the time i just end up with hot chocolate all over my hand when i try to swivel the lid round(N)
I’m the opposite, I don’t want them bothering me so I turn the cup the other way. Just after writing that, I wondered why I did. This website is just a bunch of people talking about themselves and their individual peculiarities. No wonder it’s so popular.
Same with me! Gosh another neurosis I’ve found from reading stuff on this site. The only thing is sometimes I feel guilty that I’m hogging the picture and words and that others should see it so I turn it away. This happens a lot with my Warriors glass. XP
What do you do if the cup has writing all around it? Or multiple pictures on it? D:
i never noticed myself doing this. now i know.
I never notice I’ve done this A LOT
now I know
Haha! I do the same exact thing. This may be my absolute worst neurosis. I do the same thing with capped pens, too.
