styrophobia is real?
I have severe styrophopia, that is a fear of styrofoam. There is something about the noise that literally makes my teeth hurt. Just thinking about the white evil makes my skin bristle with goosebumps. I will not get food to go or go to certain drive thrus that I know use sytrofoam cups. Surely I am not alone in this!

I once scraped a styrofoam take out box with a plastic fork by accident, and my best friend let out a yelp. I actually like that noise (a little too much, probably), so i found that very bizarre.
Is this like a nails on the chalkboard thing?
I know the horror you describe..especially when it’s caused by two pieces rubbing against each other or being crushed..that ’squeak’ is unbearable.

Seriously, no joke, I always try to get beyond positive thinking into a place of positive living, but Styrofoam just drives me friggin crazy! The other day the guy in the cubicle accross from me kept adjusting the lid on his styrofoam cup, and it just kept screeching and screeching and eventually I told my boss I was having “feminine issues” and just left for the rest of the day… I don’t think I’m a stryophobe, but I just hate that sound in a way no other sound irritates me! So, I support you in your phobia as “rationale, acceptable, and totally valid!”
What I would like to know is why should I care? I mean, not to say that what you have got to say isnt significant, but I mean, its so generic. Everyone’s referring to this man. Give us something extra, something that we can get behind so we can really feel as zealous about this as you do.

We are screwed wherever we live. Detroit is just one of the first in line. Gotta wonder whether the workers will be happy their union wouldn’t budge. I would sooner take a lower salary, and work for less pay, and hope I get a raise in the future when things get better.
